"Number Theory is like looking at sex pictures instead of finding a mate!"

Mathematicians in Love, Rudy Rucker

This book is perfect for me! I love all the nerdy math jokes. Luckily, it's also very well written. And funny.

It's about a mathematician/guitarist who is just finishing up his thesis when all hell breaks loose. He is in love with a girl; alas, so is his roommate. They are both working on a theory that will allow people to predict seemingly chaotic systems (e.g., mapping weather patterns by looking at a cup of tea). Then things get a bit weird...

I don't think I can possibly summarize the plot. This book has it all: love! betrayal! vlogging! rock 'n' roll! math! alien sea cucumbers! teapots! surfing! monomaniacal politicians! and a jellyfish as God!

In the spirit of the book, here is a joke:
There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don't.

Do you think this would make a good book club book? It sounds fun.

Well, I don't know... It can be a bit technical in parts and it's definitely pretty hard sci fi.
